The School of Music

Auditions are Jan 21, Feb 4, and Feb 20.
There are more than
20 unique ensembles for
majors and non-majors to audition for and join each semester.
The School of Music serves over 200 music students
with 43, specialized, full-time faculty members.
The School of Music offers
undergraduate degrees in
Performance, Music Education,
Composition, Music Therapy,
Jazz Studies, and Music Business.
Students have traveled and performed
in cities all around the world including
Miami, New York, San Diego, Los Angeles,
and all the way down in Brazil.
COFAC Recital Hall hosts about 150 recitals each school year
featuring our WIU music faculty, students, and guest artists.
The Marching Leathernecks
is our largest ensemble
and performs three different shows
throughout the Football Season.
Graduate programs offer specialization in Music Education, Performance,
Composition, Piano Pedagogy, Conducting, Musicology, and Jazz Studies.
The School of MusicThe School of Music at Western Illinois University offers undergraduate degrees in Instrumental or Vocal Performance, Composition, Jazz Studies, Music Education, Music Therapy, and Music Business. At the graduate level, the School of Music offers degrees in Music Education, Performance, Composition, Piano Pedagogy, Conducting, Musicology and Jazz Studies as well as a Performance Certificate.
Western Illinois University, dedicated to diversity and the fine arts, has designated four complete scholarships (tuition, room, and board) to attract international string students. These four string players (two violinists, one violist, and one cellist) form the President's International String Quartet.
