CAGAS Appeal Documentation

Late registration into courses:

  1. Student's letter must include
    1. Student's name, WIU id number and school address
    2. Department, Course Number, Star Number, credit hours
    3. Explanation of why student did not register for the course by the University deadline
  2. Instructor's letter must include
    1. Student's name, WIU id number
    2. Department, Course Number, Star Number, credit hours
    3. Verification that the student has been attending the class.
      OR
      If the student has not been attending the class, the instructor must state that he/she is willing to allow the student to make up missed work.

Changing sections:

  1. Student's letter must include
    1. Student's name, WIU id number and school address
    2. Department, Course number, Star Number and credit hours of the course they wish to switch to
    3. Explanation of why they did not make the change by established deadlines
  2. Instructors' letters must include
    1. Student's name, WIU id number
    2. Statement from the instructor of the course the student is currently attending verifying that the student has never attended or if has been attending, approval for the student to change sections
    3. Statement from the instructor of the course the student is wanting to switch to verifying that the student has been attending the class or if not attending, must verify that the student can make up missed work, including quizzes, tests, etc.

Re-enroll in a dropped course:

  1. Student's letter must include
    1. Student's name, WIU id number and school address
    2. Department, Course number, Star number, and credit hours of the course to be reinstated
    3. Explanation of why they dropped the course and why they want to be reinstated. Should indicate whether or not student has been in regular attendance
  2. Instructor's letter must include
    1. Student's name, WIU id number and school address
    2. Department, Course number, Star number
    3. Verification that the student has been attending or if stopped attending, statement indicating he/she is willing to allow the student back into the course and that student can make up missed work.
