George F. and Ann Stagg Teacher Education Scholarship

HISTORY:
The George F. and Ann Stagg Teacher Education Scholarship was established in 1993 by the family, friends and colleagues in honor of George and Ann Stagg.  George Stagg served Western Illinois University as the Director of the College of Education Advising Center from 1969 to 1990, and Ann Stagg, who taught home economics at Western in the fields of teacher education, textiles and apparel design from 1969 to 1990.  This scholarship recognizes the excellence and outstanding qualities that the Staggs demonstrated in their teaching and advising of students in teacher education.

George F. Stagg died July 18, 1991 at the age of 68.

CRITERIA:

  • Awarded to an outstanding student in Teacher Education.
  • Cumulative GPA 3.5 or better.
  • Completed 30 semester hours.
  • Demonstrate outstanding achievement, and school and community involvement.

TERMS: Award amount varies based on annual interest earned on endowment.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Final selection of the recipient will be conducted by the Office of Teacher Education Scholarship Committee. Their selection will be final.

RENEWABLE? Yes.  Applicant must reapply, after which his/her application will be put into the pool of applicants to be evaluated by the selection committee.
