Western Illinois University (WIU) is hosting a Student Camp at no cost to participants, providing high school students with an opportunity to explore the exciting and growing field of cybersecurity.

The camp is sponsored by the National Security Agency (NSA) and is designed for high school students with little to no prior experience in cybersecurity.

We will select 30 high school students to participate in a residential camp, which will be held from June 6 through 11, 2027, at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.

As part of this camp, all participants must stay at Corbin Olson Hall throughout the duration of the camp at Western Illinois University.

Please make sure you are ready to complete the application before you begin. Your responses will not be saved, so you should plan to complete and submit the application in one sitting.

Please have the following information ready:

• Your personal information, including your name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, and age.
• Your current grade level as of October 1, 2026.
• Your parent/guardian's contact information, including their name, email address, and phone number.
• Your current school information, including the school's name, address, and phone number.
• Your cybersecurity and computer programming experience , if any.
• Your previous GenCyber participation, if applicable.
• Your written responses to the camp-related questions , including:
  • Why you are interested in attending the WIU GenCyber Cybersecurity Camp.
  • How the camp would benefit you.
  • Your academic and career interests and goals.
• A recommender in mind, such as a teacher, counselor, family member, or another person who knows you well, who can complete an online recommendation form.
• Your recommender's contact information so you can provide the necessary instructions.
• Only one reference's information is required; however, the system allows you to provide up to three references.
• Any other information or documents requested as part of the application.
