Immigration Request Processing Timeline

Business days are Monday through Friday and exclude University closures. All immigration requests must be emailed to internationalstudents@wiu.edu.

Please do not sent multiple emails or call the office as this will delay processing

CURRENT STUDENTS: 3-5 business days

  • CPT authorization 3-5 business days
  • OPT recommendation 3-5 business days
  • SSN Employment Verification Letter 3-5 business days
  • Full Time Exception I-20 (reduced course load) 3-5 business days

OPT/STEM OPT STUDENTS:

  • SEVIS portal reset 1-3 business days
  • Employment update:  5-7 business days
  • STEM validation report:  5-7 business days
  • STEM evaluation validation report:  5-7 business days
  • STEM OPT recommendation:  5-7 business days

TRAVEL SIGNATURE REQUESTS:

  • Please submit the Google Form requesting a travel signature.  5-7 business days
    • Travel signatures are valid for one (1) year for currently enrolled students and six (6) months while on OPT or STEM OPT.  
    • Travel signatures are NOT required for domestic travel or when departing the U.S.
    • IF you need an emergency travel signature, you MUST send a copy of your itinerary to internationalstudents@wiu.edu.

TRANSFER OUT REQUEST: 5-7 business days

ADDING DEPENDENTS: 5-7 business days

UPDATE FINANCIAL AMOUNT ON CURRENT I-20: 5-7 business days
