University Libraries to Partake in Free Comic Book Day

Graphic with the information listed about the event.

On Saturday, May 6th, between noon and 6 PM, WIU’s Malpass Library and Quad Cities campus library will partake in Free Comic Book Day. This international event makes free comic books available to anyone who visits participating independent comic book shops, and some libraries. Malpass Library’s event will be held in cooperation with A Boy and His Tiger, a local comic and game shop in Macomb.

Visitors to either Malpass Library, the QC campus library, or A Boy and His Tiger on May 6th can choose from a selection of free comic books. At Malpass, information will also be available about the Libraries’ graphic novel collection, which WIU students can borrow from with their student ID; community members can borrow graphic novels from WIU Libraries by applying for a community borrower card.

“I grew up with comics, and they were an excellent way for me to grow as a reader and explore new worlds,” says Dean of University Libraries Michael Lorenzen. “We are happy to be able to help more people enjoy the comic book experience.”
