2018 Monthly Updates

  • December 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  provides an update on Western Illinois University’s Fiscal Year 2018 Composite Financial Indicator and the University’s Fiscal Year 2019 Financial Recovery Plan reported to the Higher Learning Commission. Also discussed are the next steps in this matter.
  • November 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  provides an update on Western Illinois University’s completed Quality Initiative for the Higher Learning Commission.
  • October 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  provides you with the membership, fall meeting schedule, process, and planned deliverables from the Social Responsibility Planning Task Force (SRTF) during academic year 2018-2019.
  • September 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  will show that consistent with the  Vision  in  Higher Values in Higher Education 2017-2027: (1) Western Illinois University continues to advance in national rankings of quality, opportunity, and affordability. (2) The University is implementing  Strategic Plan  priorities related to increased outreach and learning inside and outside of the classroom. (3) And, as a result of the efforts, Western students continue to receive national recognition for their academic excellence, and alumni maintain a very high percentage of workforce and/or graduate/professional studies placement after graduation from the University.
  • August 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: The August 2018  Strategic Plan Update  seeks volunteers from the university community to serve on the President’s Executive Institute (PEI). It also provides a status report on PEI goals, priorities, and accomplishments.
  • July 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: The July 2018  Strategic Plan Update  provided an update on Western Illinois University’s continuous improvement effort in serving military students through institutional participation United States Department of Defense’s Voluntary Education Institutional Compliance Program. Likewise, this month’s  Strategic Plan Update  provides a second continuous improvement process that will occur during Fiscal Year 2019. Western will participate in the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning’s Community Engagement Self-Study and Certification process.
  • June 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  provides an overview of Western Illinois University’s Fiscal Year 2019 participation in the United States Department of Defense’s (DOD) Voluntary Education Institutional Compliance Program (VEICP). Participation in this program will demonstrate and extend the University’s tradition of excellence in serving military students.
  • May 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  provides you you with the website addresses for the presentations regarding Fiscal Year 2018 Accomplishments and Fiscal Year 2019 that were made to the university community earlier this month. Your review of these materials will show that we have accomplished much as a university community and that we continue to build an even stronger university for the future through successful implementation of Higher Values in Higher Education.
  • April 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  provides you with the schedule for the Fiscal Year 2019 Planning and Fiscal Year 2018 Accomplishment presentations made by the Vice Presidents and areas that report to the President. These presentations will occur from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM on May 3rd and May 4th. Location is the Union University Capitol Rooms video conferencing to Riverfront Hall Rooms 103/104 on the Quad Cities campus.
  • March 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  summarizes some of the decisions made at the March 13, 2018, Illinois Board of Higher Education meeting. As shown in the Update, these decisions support the continued successful advancement of the goals and priorities in  Higher Values in Higher Education.
  • February 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  seeks your feedback on the first draft of  Higher Values in Higher Education 2017-2027. The draft was prepared by the Social Responsibility Task Force. I am also in the process of scheduling discussion meetings with each of the governance groups. Feedback received will be shared with the Task Force as we prepare a revised draft for review by the University community.
  • January 2018 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  provides you with an update on the President’s Executive Institute (PEI). The McDonough County Voice recently published an article entitled  Broadening Economic Base May Be Key to Stabilizing Regional Economy. The article featured work of the PEI and the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs in contributing to institutional, community, and regional goals and priorities.
