Education:
Ryan earned Associates degrees in arts and in sciences from Carl Sandburg College. As an undergraduate, he completed majors in both Psychology and Biology at Knox College, and was granted a Master of Science in Experimental Psychology from Western Illinois University under the thesis title “Differential effects of the psychostimulants nicotine, caffeine, methylphenidate, and modafinil on attentional performance in young adult rats.”
Teaching:
Teaching areas include Psy100 (Introductory Psychology) and First Year Experience sections, in addition to Developmental Psychology, Physiological psychology, Fundamentals of Learning and Behavior, Behavior Modification, and Motivation and Emotion, among other courses.various undergraduate courses within the department.
Research:
Areas of emphasis in psychology include Cognitive Neuroscience, or the biological processes behind thought and motivation. Previous and anticipated research centers on the investigation and augmentation of attentional processes.
