How to Apply

To apply for the Master of Music in Music Education program, candidates will complete the following:

  1. Complete the WIU School of Graduate Studies Application
  2. Contact your previous colleges and request official transcripts be sent directly to the School of Graduate Studies.
  3. Submit 3 letters of recommendation either through the School of Graduate Studies Application or online via ACCEPTD Image result for acceptd
  4. Submit a philosophy of music education and goals statement (about 500 words) online via ACCEPTD Image result for acceptd
  5. Submit a video sample of classroom or ensemble teaching (about 10 minutes) online via ACCEPTD Image result for acceptd
  6. Complete an interview with the WIU Music Education faculty. The interview can be conducted live or via an online video conferencing platform (e.g., Skype, Google Meet, Zoom). Contact Dr. Richard Cangro at RM-Cangro@wiu.edu to set up a day/time for your interview.

Note: The WIU School of Graduate Studies accepts applications on a "rolling basis," so there is no specific application deadline; however, applicants are encouraged to apply early to ensure enrollment in required courses.
