Assistant Professor of Music. Prior to her appointment at WIU, Courtney Blankenship served as the Communications Coordinator for the Bloomington, IN Convention and Visitors Bureau where she promoted the area to writers, produced publications, and sat on numerous arts-related committees including the Lotus World Music Festival for which she was in charge of music merchandise for several years. As part of her master's degree program, Blankenship worked for Carol Fox and Associates of Chicago, a marketing and PR agency devoted exclusively to promoting the arts. Her responsibilities included implementing marketing, public relations and promotions plans for Chicago Opera Theater (The Magic Flute and The Tender Land) and Ballet Chicago (Coppélia).

In Macomb Blankenship served as the post-award grants administrator in the WIU Office of Sponsored Projects and was a liaison between state and federal funding agencies and project directors at WIU. Her current research areas of interest include music subscription streaming services and women in the music business industry. She is a member of the College Music Society (CMS), Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA), the Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), Engineering Audio Recording Society of Chicago (EARS) and a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). She is currently serving a two-year term as Board Member/grant administrator of MEIEA and Planning Committee member of CMS Generation Next Program for College Students at the NAMM (International Music Products Association) Show.

Blankenship received a B.S. degree in Marketing and Minors in Piano Performance and Arts Management from Miami University of Ohio. There she studied piano under Anne Baxter. Her additional artistic training is in classical ballet. Her M.A. in Arts Administration degree is from Indiana University in Bloomington. While in Bloomington, Blankenship held positions in the IU School of Music Office of Publicity, and the IU Musical Arts Center Box Office promoting the year-round opera performances.

Her community involvement includes serving as a board member of the Al Sears Jazz Festival and President of the Macomb Band Boosters, a 501c3 dedicated to fundraising for the Macomb Jr/Sr High Band Program.
