Updates

The Cinema Demolition project is now complete. Contractors from Laverdiere Construction busted a hole in the north end of the existing structure at the end of March to start clearing out the space.  A small bobcat and mini excavator cleared out both theaters. Contractors started the demolition on the outer part of the building on April 3, 2015, by separating the material as it is was removed. Western Illinois University worked with the contractors to recycle material. The hole was backfilled with dirt from the 2012 steamline project.

There was approximately 1,330 tons of material taken from the building which breaks down to the following percentages:

  • 3.8% scrap metal
  • 89.5% recycled concrete
  • 6.7% waste
