"My paintings blur the definitions of figures and landscapes. Trees and mountains scream, dissolving into creatures, churning with inner turmoil. Figures branch into abstracted scenery and spaces."

"I use carefully chosen fragments as layers accumulate organically across the surface of the piece. I consider myself an explorer, seeking new ways of layering color, pattern, and marks. Multiple repetitive marks represent the ticking of time, as I methodically create dots, dashes, and swirls."
-Furimsky

"My latest work uses memory, impression, and my experiences as a traveler to cobble together an invented, non-traditional landscape. I divide and organize space, as a farmer or a quilter might, to explore pattern as well as experiment with density, dynamism, and emptiness."
-Smelser

"The fiber techniques that I use are drawn from the ancient craft of basketry. In my work, I tie string together, bend some sticks, interweave fibers, and form plaster in my hands to create a sculptural expression of my embodied experiences. The vessel objects I make explore somatic boundaries of things: eternal and ephemeral, strong and delicate, masculine and feminine, free and captive, old and young, living and dead. These ineffable memories held by the body are potent, penetrating, and enduring."

Borrowed Time is a three-person exhibition of the recent artwork of Jennifer Bock-Nelson, Kelly A. Mueller, and Amy Sacksteder. The exhibition features paintings and mixed media work that queries and examines notions of time and the landscape. Transience is palpable as the artists address complex subjects such as attachment, change, mortality and existence. Current events and global warming add a heightened sense of urgency to the work.
