  • Responsibilities:

    An Internal Auditor Assistant Manager Typically:
    1. examines procedures for compliance with federal, state, and university regulations
    2. prepares and conducts simple to complex audits, including the development of audit programs and risk
    management assessments
    3. reviews financial and/or management systems and procedures to detect deficient or ineffective controls,
    duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and university
    practices
    4. plans the scope of the audit; drafts detailed audit programs for complex audits, which include specific
    audit objectives and appropriate audit procedures to accomplish the objectives
    5. performs audit work as outlined by current state and federal regulations, to include compliance with IIA
    Standards
    6. reviews and evaluates complex internal controls and their application in the financial and/or
    management operations of the higher education institution
    7. prepares detailed reports of audit results which may include opinions on the adequacy and effectiveness
    of complex systems and the efficiency with which activities are carried out, subject to review by the
    Director
    8. may assist overall auditing operations such as assisting with training of new auditors or leading the
    activities of other auditors, graduate students and/or student interns
    9. assists in investigations and the preparation of special reports, performs special projects, and provides
    management advisory services as necessary in monitoring on-going operations and activities
    10. performs integrated audits to include general control reviews of IT systems and implementations
    11. works under administrative direction of the Internal Auditor Director. This individual may represent the department in meetings in the absence of the Director
    12. assigns work to subordinates, graduate assistants or student interns
    13. establish or recommend methods to improve operational efficiency for the department and university
    14. conducts sensitive, unusual, or complex audits and evaluates special problems requiring a broad
    knowledge of auditing, management practices, and/or special regulations
    15. participates in ongoing educational opportunities to update knowledge and skills related to
    improvements and current developments in internal auditing standards, procedures, and techniques
    16. performs other related duties as assigned

  • Required Qualifications:

    CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
    1. Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in information technology (IT), accounting, business administration,
    finance or a related field
    2. Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing duties comparable to those of an
    Internal Auditor Associate

     

    Preferred Qualifications: Certified Internal Auditor, (CIA) Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified
    Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
    Knowledge of IIA Standards and IPPF framework and knowledge and experience with the COSO framework.
    Familiarity with the Illinois Fiscal Control and Internal Auditing Act
    Must be detail oriented with strong communication skills for effective listening, verbal and written
    communications.

    Work Environment:  Flexible work environment. Duties for this position may be conducted in a hybrid work enviroment from our Macomb or Quad Cities campuses. Minimual travel required. Out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days after any employment offer or final appointment.
