Strategic planning helps Western Illinois University set priorities, connect work across the University, and focus our efforts and resources on what matters most.

WIU is currently developing its next strategic plan for 2027–2032. The University Strategy Council is leading a collaborative process that looks at the University as an interconnected system. Student success, enrollment, academic programs, people and culture, resources, operations, partnerships, and institutional effectiveness do not function in isolation. Our planning process considers how these parts of the University affect one another and how we can strengthen our capacity to achieve our goals.

The working draft of WESTERN EVOLVES: Western Illinois University's Strategic Plan 2027–2032 is now available for review. The University Strategy Council is gathering feedback on the draft before final revisions and consideration for approval.

Share Your Perspective

Feedback from the University community will help inform revisions to the draft Strategic Plan before constituency endorsement in November and Board of Trustees consideration in December.

Open feedback sessions will be held October 28–30 , with both in-person and virtual opportunities to ask questions and share suggestions. Visit the Planning Process & Timeline webpage for the complete schedule and Zoom information.
