"You have your entire life to pay bills and be an adult. Spend these years focused on succeeding academically, shaping career goals, and enjoying college. Let things like groceries, bills, and furniture be the least of your worries. As a graduate student now, 22 years old, I still have close friends who I met my freshmen year in the residence halls. These are friends that I'll have for life, who I wouldn't have met if I never decided to live on campus. Living on campus is an experience like no other, and it's best to enjoy it now at Western Illinois University."

"My favorite experience definitely has to be participating in Mud Volleyball my freshman year and making so many new friends. Living on campus definitely has its perks and with that you have a meal plan, a room, and a community that is there to help you succeed. What more could you ask for?"

Viktoria Vidziunas, Sophomore, Musical Theatre, Washington Hall

"Living on campus was the best decision of my life. Not only is it convenient (I haven't washed a dish here in 4 years!) but you to meet new people on your floor and at hall government meetings. Even in the line of the dining center! Because of the community in the residence halls, I am a bridesmaid in a wedding! The people you get to know will change yourself for the better."

Stephanie Montoya, Senior, LEJA, Thompson Hall

I am able to make new friends and have new experiences. I also like that there is a meal plan so that I do not have to make my own food or worry about spending the time or money about food. I love that I can walk right to Waggoner, since that's where most of my classes are. Living on campus makes me feel more connected to everything.

I love how close to my classes I am, but mostly I love the community. All of my friends are within arms reach for when I need them or just want to be with them. This is my home. This is my family. I could never image a better college experience than what I've gotten from living on campus.

Connecting with other students is much easier to do by meeting them on the floor of which you stay or just around the building. Also the dining center is very convenient during the times of meals. I really appreciate how the dining center has healthy food options every day.

It's convenient to live so close to all my classes. I work on campus and it's much easier to get there on time since I'm living on campus. Plus, I've made a lot of friends here and most of us met from living on the same floor.

I get the full college experience. I can be closer to more people and I can meet other people. Living on campus keeps you involved and gives you a chance to constantly meet people whether it involves going to get food or relaxing in the lounge. When I graduate I will be living off campus and back at home, and when I am older I will have my own home. So why do I choose to live on campus? Because I only get to do it one time for a short period of time, so why not.

Overall, I really enjoy living on campus. The buildings are all close to classes, campus facilities, and activities. In addition, the different hall wide programs and the feeling of community is a strong plus as well. I am very happy I have lived on campus the time that I have.
