Reach Program

Western Illinois University's Reach Program is designed to help students start strong and stay on track during their first semesters at WIU. Through personalized guidance and a wide range of academic support services, Reach students receive the tools and encouragement they need to thrive academically and work confidently toward graduation. It’s a fantastic option for students who need an extra layer of support as they transition to college life.

Plus, students in the Reach Program have the opportunity to earn a Reach scholarship after starting at WIU by achieving a 3.0 GPA or higher. It's one way that WIU recognizes their hard work!

Admission Overview - Fall 2026 Entry

  • Students with a 2.75 GPA - 2.99 GPA (4.0 scale) will be automatically admitted to the Reach Program if they apply by the July 1 deadline.
  • Students with a GPA below 2.75 are encouraged to apply and will be reviewed for admission consideration. The priority deadline to submit transcripts and complete the application file is February 1. Because space is limited, applying early is strongly recommended.

Students who apply after the priority deadlines may still be considered if space remains available, though availability is expected to be limited after March 1.

Admission decisions are based on overall GPA and performance in core academic courses such as math and English. In some cases, students may be invited to submit a personal statement to share more about their experience and goals.

Students in the Reach Program must attend in-person on the Macomb campus, where they can fully engage with the campus community and access hands-on support.
