Office of Public Safety Report - 2012-04-11 to 2012-04-13

On April 11 at 2:32 a.m. the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the first floor mechanical equipment room of Tanner Hall. It was determined the alarm had been set off by a problem with the water flow sensor. There was no fire and no reported injuries.

On April 11 at 3:35 a.m. a student reported that her laptop computer, valued at $1,000, was stolen from her unlocked room in Grote Hall. The theft is under investigation.

On April 11 at 3:17 p.m. a student in Tanner Hall was judicially referred for harassment.

On April 11 at 7:36 p.m. a student in Thompson Hall was judicially referred for behavior.

On April 11 at 8:46 p.m. two students were judicially referred for interfering and obstructing police after a fighting incident in the University Union Grand Ballroom.

On April 11 at 11:36 p.m. a student in Tanner Hall was judicially referred for suspicion of cannabis.

On April 12 at 12:33 a.m. a student in Tanner Hall was judicially referred for harassment by computer.

On April 12 at 3:18 a.m. Austin D. Wellman, 19, of 406 Thompson Hall, was given a notice to appear May 15 on a Macomb City ordinance violation for consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 500 block of W. Pierce St.

On April 12 at 1 p.m. an employee reported that a student's bill was paid with a fraudulent transaction (the use of a credit card in a non-related individual's name). The incident is under investigation.

On April 12 at 3 p.m. a student reported being harassed on Facebook by a person known to her.

On April 12 at 7:28 p.m. a housing employee reported a door of a residence hall room in Washington Hall and the carpeting outside the door had been damaged. The incident is under investigation.

On April 12 at 8:14 p.m. two students were judicially referred for cannabis near the footbridge between Thompson Hall and Lamoine Village.

On April 12 at 10:05 p.m. Rebecca J. Phetteplace, 19, of 1622 Tanner Hall, was given a notice to appear May 15 on a Macomb City ordinance violation for possession of fraudulent identification.

On April 12 at 10:21 p.m. Mary S. Adams, 19, of 1439 Thompson Hall was given a notice to appear May 15 on a Macomb City ordinance violation for possession of cannabis less than 10 grams and for possession of drug paraphernalia. Hayley A. Harris, 18, of 1439 Thompson Hall, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (Adderall) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Harris was lodged in the McDonough County Jail.

On April 13 at 12:15 a.m. a student in Tanner Hall was judicially referred for possession of alcohol and suspicion of cannabis.

On April 13 at 12:21 a.m. two students in Tanner Hall were judicially referred for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On April 13 at 5 a.m. an employee reported that his driver's side mirror was removed from his vehicle that was parked overnight in the Morgan Hall parking lot.
