Office of Public Safety Report - 2012-08-24 to 2012-08-27

On Aug. 24 at 1:22 a.m. two students in the 400 block of West Murray Street were judicially referred for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

On Aug. 24 at 11:03 a.m. a student in Henninger Hall reported that her iPhone, valued at $600, was stolen from the information desk. The theft is under investigation.

On Aug. 24 at 7:05 p.m. a student reported that his iPod, valued at $300, was stolen from his backpack in the University Union. The theft is under investigation.

On Aug. 24 at 9:44 p.m. one student near the Adams and Charles streets intersection was judicially referred for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

On Aug. 25 at 3:06 a.m. two students reported they were battered by a group of individuals in the 600 block of West Adams Street. The incident is under investigation.

On Aug. 25 at 12:40 p.m. three students near the Sherman Circle were judicially referred for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

On Aug. 25 at 2:38 p.m. Reid Hamilton, 19, of 1208 Bayliss Hall, was given a notice to appear Sept. 25 on a Macomb City ordinance violation for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of a false ID in the 900 block of North Albert Street.

On Aug. 25 at 8:33 p.m. two students in Higgins Hall were judicially referred for possession of cannabis.

On Aug. 25 at 10:07 p.m. one student in the 800 block of Western Avenue was judicially referred for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

On Aug. 26 at 3:30 a.m. the Office of Public Safety was contacted by the Macomb Police Department (MPD) for a report of a sexual assault that occurred on campus. MPD received a report around 1:50 a.m. Aug. 26 of a sexual assault that occurred on the Sherman Hall lawn, along Adams Street. A female student who resides off campus reported to Macomb police that she was walking on Adams Street before midnight when she was grabbed by a male unknown to her and sexually assaulted. Following an initial investigation by MPD, the Office of Public Safety was contacted at approximately 3:30 a.m. to take over the investigation. The incident remains under investigation.

On Aug. 26 at 10:37 a.m. nonstudent Daniel Thul, 20, of Bloomington, was given a notice to appear Oct. 2 on a Macomb City ordinance violation for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor in Corbin Hall.

On Aug. 26 at 3:11 p.m. Cozetta Shaw, 21, of 1106 Henninger Hall, was arrested in Henninger for disorderly conduct. She was lodged in the McDonough County Jail.
