April CarsonApril Carson - Teacher

My name is April Carson and I have spent my entire life in this area.  When it came time for me to go to college, I KNEW I wanted to work with children.  I attended WIU where I studied Early Childhood Education.  I worked at a local daycare for 11 years as a teacher, head teacher, and assistant director and established life long relationships with countless families.  I then opened a licensed home daycare for 5 years until my youngest started school.  At that time I worked in a local school as a teachers aide in a Special Education classroom. I did this for 3 years until I became a teacher for PACT Headstart.  I am also a Foster Parent. Now, I am here at the WIU Infant and Preschool Center and loving every minute of it! Currently, my children are Bethany who is 18 and attending WIU, Brooke who is 13 and in the 8th grade and Gracie who is 7 years old and special needs.  My life is full of going from one sporting event to another and surrounding myself with my family. I love children and am at my happiest when I'm surrounded by a roomful of shinning little faces.  I consider it a pure joy to look at the world through the eyes of a child!
