Michael Moon hails from Bartonville, Illinois and holds a Bachelors in Music Education from Western Illinois University, graduating Summa cum laude. In addition to his primary instrument the saxophone, Michael has also studied voice and is highly involved in both the bands and choirs at WIU. Some highlights of his undergraduate studies include performing at Carnegie Hall and the Midwest Clinic with the WIU Wind Ensemble, performing for the Midwest ACDA and IMEC Conferences with the Western Illinois University Singers, and winning the 2023-24 WIU Concerto/Aria Competition.

Michael currently serves as a Graduate Assistant in the School of Music at Western Illinois University studying instrumental conducting. His responsibilities include organizing and assisting with the Marching Leathernecks under the direction of Dr. Matt Thomas, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Band Department under the direction of Dr. Mike Fansler.

Michael's teachers include Dr. Mike Fansler, Professor Emeritus John Vana, Dr. Charlie Chadwell, and Dr. Alfonzo Cooper Jr. Michael also holds membership to Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
