Students wishing to do an internship for academic credit must secure approval prior to beginning the internship from the Department Chairperson. Students must identify a faculty mentor to oversee the student and who will evaluate the student self-assessement.

For Students

Use the following checklist for setting up the internship.

  1. Initial consultation with appropriate faculty member
  2. Contact the agency/company
  3. Set up the internship (hours, etc.) under the supervision of an appropriate faculty member
  4. Meet with the Department Chairperson to sign up for course credit.
  5. Do the internship
  6. Fill out a Student Feedback Form (grade will not be given for the course credit until this form and the evalaution from the internship supervisor have been completed

For Intern Supervisor (at the location/agency of internship)

    1. Please fill out Employer Evaluation Form at the conclusion of the internship and return it to the Chairperson of the Department of Geography.
