Make A Difference Day
Make A Difference Day (MADD) will be observed on October 28th, 2023
Make A Difference Day (MADD) provides students with the opportunity to volunteer in the community for a day of service. MADD is held during each fall semester and usually has between 5 and 7 different volunteer opportunities. This event is sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement. Free lunch and transportation to service sites are provided.
Flags of Love
The Macomb community puts up American flags around Chandler Park (on the square) at 7 AM, the morning of Veteran’s Day, and takes them down at 4:30 PM the same day. Flags of Love is a community project that displays individual flags of the United States representing deceased military veterans.
Angel Tree
The Office of Student Engagement - Volunteer Services, in cooperation with the Salvation Army, sponsors an Angel Tree in the University Union Concourse from November - December for children in the community. With 100 children in need as part of the project, participants from the WIU and Macomb communities can select an angel from the tree to donate gifts to children who otherwise might not receive any gifts.
Angel Tree 2022 - Over 250 gifts were collected for area children!!
Previously, we've volunteered with:
- Genesis Garden
- Wesley Village
- West Central Illinois Arts Center
