Synopsis Fall 2009

"Judy Jekyll and Hermione Hyde: A Cautionary Tale"

Be careful what you wish for - it may come true!

Shy little Judy Jekyll is just starting out 8th grade in a brand new school. She has trouble fitting in, and some of the kids make fun of her. But a character named Buster - a junior in a nearby high school - convinces Judy that he has a solution to her problems: if she tries just a tiny bit of this liquid concoction that he has made from his chemistry set, then Judy will gain confidence, and fit in better.

The concoction is called "More." Judy tries it, and indeed she is transformed! She becomes Hermione Hyde, and suddenly she has lots more confidence - and she becomes very popular at school. Trouble is: More wears off after awhile and she starts turning back into Judy Jekyll. So she has to take more of the More, and each time she needs it, she needs to have larger quantities for it to work. This causes her to become a very unpleasant person, and life at home and school become intolerable for little Judy. But eventually - with help from her family - she learns that people accept her for who she really is.

She stops taking More, and the old Judy Jekyll becomes the new Judy Jekyll - a person who has learned an important lesson in life.
