Audition Information for B.F.A. in Musical Theatre

Auditions/Interviews are NOT required for admission to the BA program.

Auditions for the BFA in Musical Theatre

For Audition purposes, you do NOT have to be accepted to the school at the time of your audition. However, if an offer is made contact the Admission Office for more information or APPLY NOW online.

Admission into our BFA Musical Theatre program does come with a front-loaded Talent Grant / Tuition Waiver for your first year, however the bulk of financial help will be offered through our University Scholarship Offices .

All students interested in Musical Theatre are first admitted to WIU as an acting major. Candidates for the BFA program are selected through competitive auditions. Chosen candidates are then offered a position in the program and the major changes to the BFA in Musical Theatre.

BFA Musical Theatre Audition Dates for 2025-26:

  • Saturday, October 18, 2025
  • Saturday, February 28, 2026
  • Saturday, April 4, 2026

All of these auditions can be coupled with our "The Day In The Life" experience, which happens on the Friday immediately prior. Meet students, attend classes, see a show! See below for the link with sign-up information.

You can also audition for us in person at the Illinois High School Theatre Festival or the National Unified Auditions (Chicago only). We also accept Video Submissions.

It's never too late to audition. We will accept new students up to the start day of the new semester.
