Assessment, Accreditation and Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning

The initial version of the University's current strategic plan was implemented in 2004-2005. It was updated in 2007-2008, again in 2011-2012 and most recently in 2016-2017. Through all of the updates the mission, vision, values, goals and priorities for becoming a leader in educational quality, opportunity and affordability have remained the same. The most recent version of the strategic plan can be found at the link below.

Higher Values in Higher Education 2017-2027

In Fall 2021 the University embarked on incorporating four specialized area plans into the current strategic plan. That process is ongoing and will include input from a large number of representatives from across the university. The four specialized plans were developed over the past year to help WIU chart a future towards clear goals related to some of our biggest challenges. The four plans are below.

The University is committed to comprehensive accountability reporting structures and transparency of results. Each Spring all areas of the university are required to submit an annual report on strategic plan priorities and accomplishments from within their area. The University's core values shown below are links to dashboards with annual results.
