Gerald & Linda Patton Scholarship
Criteria:
- The primary recipient of this scholarship will be a junior in good standing with a minimum 3.00 GPA and an interest in a career associated with the Humanities and/or the Social Sciences. This scholarship may be renewable for the senior year if the student is making satisfactory progress with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Preference will be given to students who are an underrepresented minority with financial need and a desire wo work in the Humanities and/or the Social Sciences.
Terms:
Award amount varies based on annual interest earnings, but will not exceed $1,000 annually. Applied to the student's university account ½ fall and ½ spring.
Additional Comments:
This gift may be used to assist the student with any costs they determine appropriate.
Selection Process:
Applications will be reviewed and recipients will be selected by the College's Scholarship Selection Committee

Jack W. and Dorothy Bates Jessee Scholarship
Criteria:
- Open to all class levels
- Incoming freshman must have a high school GPA of 3.0
- Current students must have a GPA of 3.0
- Major in area of Humanities through the College of Arts and Sciences
Terms:
Minimum award is $1,000 renewable for a maximum of four years.

Applications will be reviewed and recipients will be selected by the College of Arts and Sciences

Is this Award/Scholarship Renewable?
Yes, but the student must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher and remain a major in an area of the Humanities
Jim Miner Scholarship Endowment Fund
Criteria:
- Be enrolled full-time at Western Illinois University
- Be working toward a science education degree
- Document volunteer activities and campus involvements
- Submit a one-page essay on how this scholarship will help achieve educational goals
- Financial need is a consideration
Terms:
Amount of award will be based on annual earnings on the endowment, with hopes the award will be at least $2,000 annually and will be applied to the student's account - divided equally between the fall and spring semesters.

The recipient will be chosen by the College of Arts and Sciences Scholarship Selection Committee

Is this Award/Scholarship Renewable?
The scholarship is not automatically renewable, but recipients may reapply to be considered for subsequent years.
Larry and Reva Ehmen Fellowship/Internship Scholarship in the Physical Sciences
Criteria:
Senior level undergraduate or beginning graduate student working in the physical sciences with an assigned fellowship or internship
- The primary recipient of this scholarship will be a senior or beginning graduate student in good standing with a major in the physical sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Geography/Geology, Mathematics, Nursing or Physics)
- Preference will be given to students with financial need and an expressed desire to pursue a career in a physical science field
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale (cumulative and science major)
- Fill out an application
Terms:
Amount of award will be based on annual interest earnings
Additional Comments:
This gift may be used to assist the student with educational costs
Selection Process:
Applications will be reviewed and recipients will be selected by the Science Department Chairs in consultation with the College Scholarship Selection Committee

Applications must be submitted by the end of the first week of classes of the Fall semester of each academic year

Liberal Arts and Sciences Graduate Scholarship
Criteria:
Minimum GPA of 3.75 preferred
Terms:
$1,000 - One time award to be disbursed to the recipient's WIU student Account. The $1,000 will be disbursed over two semester: $500 for the fall and $500 for the spring
Selection Process:
Applicants must have completed three of the four MLAS core courses: LAS 501, LAS 502, LAS 503 and LAS 504. The LAS Graduate Scholarship Committee will review all proposals and make selection by the end of April. The scholarship recipient will be notified by mail.
Applications:
A written proposal must be submitted to the LAS Program outlining the scope and impact of the applicant's MLAS degree studies on their personal development, Western community, and/or greater national or global community

Criteria:
Senior level undergraduate or beginning graduate student working in the physical sciences with an assigned fellowship or internship
- Undergraduate student
- Secondary science education major accepted to the Teacher Education Program (TEP)
- Minimum 60 credit hours earned at time of scholarship disbursement
- WIU GPA of 3.00 of higher
- Expressed commitment to teaching
- Preference may be given for financial need

Award is $1,000 annually

The Nicholas and Joan Pano Scholarship
Criteria:
- Major in one of the academic programs of the College of Arts and Sciences
- Completion of 75-90 credit hours of coursework with a minimum of 45 credit hours earned at WIU
- A GPA of 3.5 or higher for coursework at WIU
- A record of outstanding contributions to the success of the College of Arts and Sciences Student Council and/or a departmental student organization. Contributions to the success of university student organization (including athletic teams) and university-wide activities will also be taken into account
Terms:
Amount of award will be determined by the annual interest rates on the endowment.
Selection Process:
Recipients will be selected by a committee consisting of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or his/her designee, a faculty member selected by the College Faculty Council and a student appointed by the College Student Council

Steve Wood Scholarship for Science Education
Criteria:
- Science major who has been accepted into the Teacher Education Program (TEP) as a student planning to teach secondary science
- Junior or senior class level (including new transfer students) in good academic standing with an overall GPA of 3.00 or higher
- The individual should have the potential to be a leader in the field and have a commitment to teaching
- This scholarship may be renewable for the student if they continue to make satisfactory progress
- Preference will be given to students who have a financial need and an expressed desire to pursue a career in teaching middle school or high school science
Terms:
Amount of award will be determined by the annual interest earnings on the endowment.
Selection Process:
Applications will be reviewed and recipients will be selected by a scholarship committee within the College of Arts and Sciences

Women in Science (WIS) Research and Scholarly Activity Scholarship
Criteria:
- Be a female majoring in a STEM discipline in the College of Arts and Sciences
- Be enrolled full-time during the award
- Be an undergraduate junior/senior or graduate student during the award
- Engage in a research project not part of a regular course ("individual research" courses are acceptable)
Terms:
Each student-faculty advisor application is eligible for up to $800 (paid in two installments, Fall and Spring) from WIU-WIS. Funds will be disbursed via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
