"On the Open Road" Oct. 16-20
October 8, 2012
MACOMB, IL - -Western Illinois University's Department of Theatre and Dance will present "On the Open Road," by Steve Tesich at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, Oct. 16-20 in Horrabin Hall.
A mentor and his pupil, with a wagon full of art and minds full of knowledge about composers and philosophers, navigate the ruined landscapes of world civil war, hoping their canon of culture will deem them worthy enough to enter the "land of the free," only to discover freedom isn't a place.
"The play has so many messages woven together with great pieces of classical music and philosophical questions," said Director Brooke Edwards, a master of fine arts graduate student from Quincy. "I want people to take away from it what they need to take away from it."
Tickets ($15 public and $13 seniors and youth, WIU students free with valid ID) are available through the WIU Hainline Box Office, (309) 298-2900, and online at wiu.edu/theatre/boxoffice.php.
