'The Pirates of Penzance' Comes to WIU

MACOMB, IL – Opera theatre students from the School of Music at Western Illinois University will present Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance," on the Macomb campus Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4.

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. both production nights in the Hainline Theatre.

Students featured in the performance include senior, choral music teacher education major James Anderson, of Bolingbrook, IL, as the Pirate King; senior choral music teacher education major Doug Stewart, of Burlington, Iowa, as Frederic; senior music major Andrea Dunn, of La Vista, NE, as Mabel; senior music major Hillary Pieper, of Moline, as Ruth and senior music major Daniel Brakefield, of Macomb, and senior music major Robbie Krajewski, of Carbondale, IL, sharing the role of Major General Stanley.

Tickets, $15 for the public, $12 for senior citizens and youth and free for WIU students with valid ID, are available at the door or through the Hainline Theatre Box Office, open noon to 5 p.m. Monday thorough Friday, or by calling (209) 298-2900.
