"The Purple Chair" Episode 3 Airing on University Television

MACOMB, IL – Do you know what it takes to lead a happy life? Let "The Purple Chair" guide you ....

The Fall 2013 premiere of "The Purple Chair," a Western Illinois University Television Services (University Television) original series, began airing Sept. 9 on local cable Channel 3 (Comcast subscribers; Channel 9, MTC subscribers). Additional air dates for the third episode in the series, featuring motivational speaker Bruce Littlefield, who talks about how to live a happier life, are: 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11; 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12; 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13; and 2:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 14-15. "The Purple Chair" debuted in April 2013, and featured Joe Decker, a 1998 WIU kinesiology graduate and who was the "The World's Fittest Man," discussing how to get and stay fit, followed by Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, in May 2013, talking about how to achieve peace in today's society.

Upcoming shows for the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semester will focus on such topics as the history of witchcraft; cyberbullying; the history of holiday celebrations; art restoration; and lessons learned from the Holocaust.

Amanda Shoemaker, associate director of WIU's Alumni Programs, is the host of "The Purple Chair," while Phil Weiss and Todd Draeger of University Television produce "The Purple Chair."
