MACOMB, IL - The Office of Student Activities is bringing Dance Marathon to Western Illinois University.

Dance Marathon is a yearlong event that raises money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. The fundraising throughout the year will lead up to a final event where participants are asked to take a pledge to stand for 12 hours. This pledge represents all of the doctors' and nurses' shifts and the kids who are unable to stand.

The final event will have food, games, performances, stories from children who have been or are being treated at CMN hospitals and, of course, dancing.

The kick-off event is scheduled for Oct. 29 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Multicultural Center. This will give participants information on the Dance Marathon. The final event is scheduled for Feb. 1, from noon until midnight, in the University Union Heritage Room.

This is the first ever Dance Marathon on WIU's campus and the goal is to raise $12,000. All of the money raised will be divided between SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital (both of which are CMN hospitals).

The Dance Marathon is open to all WIU students, staff and faculty. In order to register, visit helpmakemiracles.org/event/wiudm.
