MACOMB, IL - - Three Western Illinois University graduate students were part of a team that won first place at the Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) Midwest Regional Meeting, held in March in Indianapolis.

WIU's Beta Alpha Psi chapter competed in the BAP Best Practices competition, led by Cheryl Westen, for BAP and accounting instructor. Kelsey Korsmeyer (Littleton, IL), William Lunt (Rochester, IL) and Kacey Swainey (Keokuk, IA), all working toward their master's in accountancy from WIU, represented the WIU Zeta Beta chapter and placed first in the Strategic Planning category with their presentation detailing the chapter's ideas to increase the marketability of chapter members. They competed against five other universities and will compete at the BAP National Meeting in Atlanta (GA) in August because of their first place win.

"Our strategic plan focused on some key areas, including improving technical skills, developing leadership skills, enhancing member relations and increasing our community service," Korsmeyer said.

Beta Alphai Psi is a financial information honorary organization for students and professionals with the primary objective of encouraging or giving recognition to scholastic or professional excellence.
