Retirement Reception May 29 for University Libraries' Marilyn Shelley

MACOMB, IL — Western Illinois University Libraries will host a retirement reception for Marilyn Shelley, senior library specialist (in the acquisitions/cataloging unit), from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in the Leslie F. Malpass Library Garden Lounge. The reception will commemorate Shelley's 40 years of service to University Libraries; remarks will be given at 2:30 p.m.
Shelley began her career in the cataloging department in February of 1974.
"I have seen many changes in the library throughout my career, from a card catalog to an online system, 35mm films to DVDs and online videos, to electronic journals," Shelley noted. "When the library first started using OCLC (Online Computer Library Center), we had two terminals in the building, and each of us was assigned a two-hour shift to use the computer to look up bibliographic records."
