WIU-QC Review Set for Feb. 2-3

MACOMB, IL – On April 19, 2014, the Institutional Actions Council of the Higher Learning Commission approved Western Illinois University's request to close the Western Illinois University-Quad Cities 60th Street branch campus in Moline and promote the WIU-QC Riverfront campus location to a branch campus on Aug. 11, 2014. Commission policy requires a Campus Evaluation Visit (CEV) to take place within six months of matriculation of students and initiation of instruction. The council will visit the Riverfront campus Feb. 2-3.

According to Joe Rives, vice president for Quad Cities and Planning, a report following the visit will document if Western Illinois University, based on reviewers' determination, can assure the quality of Riverfront campus and its educational programs in meeting the needs of its defined constituencies, and if the University has the capacity to sustain that quality in the future.

Additional materials regarding the University's CEV is available at wiu.edu/qc/cev. The team's schedule, which includes meetings with students, faculty, staff, alumni, the WIU Board of Trustees and community members, is available at wiu.edu/qc/cev/team_visit_schedule.php .

"Preparation of institutional materials and the University's CEV website has been a combined effort of numerous individuals across the University going well above and beyond the normal call of duty," Rives said. "This professionalism and dedication to the University, and the process, is demonstrated by the many individuals who have volunteered to be part of the review."
