Campus Racial Diversity Workshop March 31

MACOMB, IL -- The Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety will host a campus racial diversity program from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 for all WIU students, faculty and staff.

"Appreciating Our Differences: A Campus Racial Diversity Workshop to Improve Campus Connections, Cooperation & Respect," presented by Lee Struble and Steve Grant of WSM Trainers and Consultants, will be held in the University Union Lamoine Room.

Discussions includes the racial diversity challenge on college campuses, mass media and the perpetuation of negative stereotypes in our society, lessons learned from tragic endings, the responsibility of law enforcement and you and the law.

Struble, president of WSM Trainers and Consultants, recently retired after a 30-year career in higher education public safety. He is also a senior trainer for the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and provides security assessment and consulting services to colleges and universities throughout the United States. Grant is president of LAMAD, Inc. and retired from the Rochester Police Department, where he served several years as a hostage negotiator and defensive tactics instructor for the 700+ member department. He is a frequent national and international trainer on the topics of officer safety, self-defense and verbal judo.
