Hawkinson Retirement Reception

MACOMB, IL -- A retirement reception for Ken Hawkinson, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Western Illinois University, will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, April 30 in the University Union Lamoine Room.

A brief presentation will be held at 5:15 p.m. Hawkinson, who has been named president of Kutztown University, will retire May 18 after 28 years of service.

Hawkinson has served as provost at WIU since January 2012, after serving as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs. Prior to that appointment, he had served as the associate provost and associate vice president for budget, planning and personnel since June 2008.

Hawkinson was the associate dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication from 2005-2008, and he served as chair of the communication department from 1997-2007. He joined the Western Illinois faculty in 1988 as an assistant professor in the communication arts and sciences department.
