MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of Theatre and Dance presents "She Kills Monsters," by Qui Nguyen and directed by DC Wright at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30- Saturday Oct. 3 and at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4 at Hainline Theatre.

Tickets are $15 for general public, $13 for seniors, and are free to WIU students with a valid ID.

"She Kills Monsters" tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly's refuge.

According to The New York Times, "She Kills Monsters" is "Deceptively breezy and rather ingenious. The whole enterprise is kind of dopey and kind of invigorating and kind of remarkable. It will slash and shapeshift its way into your heart."

The Chicago Tribune notes, "Nguyen is a refreshing, break-the-rules writer — he has a ready embrace of pop culture, high-school speak and 'High Fidelity' cool, and he also has a mission to redeem gaming geeks everywhere... ‘She Kills Monsters', delivers exactly what it promises, is generally a blast."

For tickets or information, call The Hainline Theatre Box Office at (309) 298- 2900 or visit wiu.edu/theatre.
