WIU Broadcasting Students Named Award Finalists

MACOMB, IL – Three students from Western Illinois University's Department of Broadcasting have been named finalists for the 76th annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Awards.

The winners will be announced March 5 at the IBS international conference in New York (NY).

Students nominated for awards this year include:

• Best Newscast: Sam Jensen, a senior broadcasting major from Macomb, for his Oct. 29 newscast.

• Best Community News: Emily Manley, a junior broadcasting major from Highland (IL), for her story, "Downtown."

• Most Creative Program: Jensen and Lonnie Wilkins, a junior broadcasting major from Wilmington (IL), for their show "Throwback Thursday."
