WIU Supply Chain Management Earns Summit Sponsor Spot

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Supply Chain Management (SCM) program has been selected as a Summit Sponsor for the Supply Chain Education Summit at the 2016 MODEX Conference and Trade Show April 4-7 in Atlanta.

MODEX, sponsored by MHI, brings together 850 of the leading manufacturing and supply chain providers to showcase their latest solutions, network and host educational sessions. The sponsorship positions, offered by invitation only, are comprised of professional associations, consultants and universities.

"We have won several awards at major conferences for our unique SCM program," said Bart Jennings, WIU supply chain management professor. "Our ability to customize our program, based upon the goals of the students and the companies that hire them, has set us apart from most other SCM programs."

The sponsorship position includes the mention of WIU in the mailings to 30,000 industry professionals worldwide, a booth at the trade show, as well as the opportunity for WIU students to attend special events and make presentations, with travel and lodging compensation.

"We have become recognized as a leading-edge program, participating in some unique events, which has led us to this opportunity," Jennings said. "We plan to have a presentation, during which we will be talking about the partnerships we have with the many companies that recruit our SCM students. For example, we will discuss how we customize the electives for each company so graduates are better prepared for specific jobs they will have.

"Along with that, we will have a booth set up by the main entrance to the trade show, which will be another opportunity for our students to meet industry professionals and for those attending to learn more about WIU and our supply chain management programs—undergraduate, MBA and the post-undergraduate certificate," Jennings added.
