MACOMB, IL -- The Western Illinois University chapter of the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) will hold its annual meeting and dinner Tuesday, April 26 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb. A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner beginning at 6 p.m.

Reservations are $15 (checks payable to WIU-SUAA) and must be made by Friday, April 22. to Penny Yunker, 1901 Riverview Dr., Macomb. Entree selection includes Hawaiian chicken on rice or broiled balsamic vegetables on rice. Members are encouraged to invite potential members as guests.

The WIU-SUAA chapter, which has been in existence since 1971 and boasts over 700 members, serves as an advocate for WIU employees and retirees. The WIU-SUAA board meets monthly to discuss current events that may affect pensions, and also participates in community service events. WIU-SUAA executive board members communicate frequently with legislators, public officials and political candidates to discuss issues of importance to WIU retirees and future retirees, such as full pension funding, cost of living increases, retiree health insurance and tax exemptions.

While the majority of the WIU SUAA membership is comprised of University retirees, the local chapter is seeing an increase in current WIU employee participation, which is vital to the organization's success, said SUAA President Jackie Thompson.
