First Wednesday Art Event May 4

MACOMB, IL – The final First Wednesday event of the Spring 2016 semester will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery.

All classes are open free to the public.

This month's events include:

• Bubble Monoprints: WIU Art Professors Bill Howard, Jan Clough and Julie Mahoney - Garwood Hall, room 12 (first floor).

• Palette Knife Painting Workshop: Art Professor Tim Waldrop and senior art major Sam Myers, of Macomb - Garwood Hall, room 30.

• Silkscreening a Blank T-Shirt: Senior art major Erin Lundgren, of Galesburg (IL), and the "Silk Screamers" – Garwood Hall, room 16.

• Paper Flower Construction (project for children): Associate Professor of Art Ta-Teh Ku and his art education students – Garwood Hall, room 24.

• Photoshop Demonstration/Workshop: Art Professor Bruce Walters, Garwood Hall, room 22.

• Cyanotype Portraits: Art Professor Jenny Knavel, digital photography studio, Garwood Hall, room 37

• Clay Olympics: Art Professor Ian Shelly, ceramics studio, Heating Plant Annex, room 111.

• Creating Beaded Jewelry: Art Professor Kat Myers, metalsmithing studio, Heating Plant Annex, room 107.

There will also be live music performed by Assistant Professor of Art Duke Oursler. The University Art Gallery will be open late May 4 and will feature the annual Juried Student Exhibit, as well as the Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibition by senior art major Cassie Loos, of Machesney Park (IL).
