December 7, 2016
MACOMB, IL — To help students cope with the unique pressure that comes with preparing for final exams, Western Illinois University Libraries offers opportunities for stress relief within the Leslie F. Malpass Library and the branch libraries.
Activities began Monday, Dec. 5 and run through Friday, Dec. 16. According to Outreach Librarian Christina Norton, the "Dead Week" with Daisy and Rosie (certified therapy dogs) event on December 6 was a great success.
Other scheduled activities include:
- Free, five-minute massages (courtesy of WIU Libraries) with Tammy Miller from 1-2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 in the Malpass Library Garden Lounge; and
- 5-7 p.m. Sunday-Monday, Dec. 11-12, cookie giveaway (facilitated by the Library Leadership Board), Malpass Library, second floor atrium
For students to use during study breaks or between exams, unscheduled, "whenever you want" activities, such as coloring pages, WIU-themed crosswords and jigsaw puzzles, are also available in Malpass Library for the entirety of the two weeks. Coloring pages and some puzzles will also be available in the various University Libraries' branches, including the music library, the curriculum library and the physical science library.
