WIU Piano Festival, Featuring Guest Duo, Set for March 24-25

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University School of Music will host a recital and masterclass with guest artists Marina Lomazov and Joseph Rackers during the WIU Piano Festival Friday-Saturday, March 24-25.

A free recital will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 24 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall. A masterclass with WIU students will then begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25.

The two artists make up the Lomazov Rackers Piano Duo at the University of South Carolina.

Lomazov is the Ira McKissick Koger Professor of Piano at the University of South Carolina, where she is the founder and artistic director of the Southeastern Piano Festival. She has been praised by critics as "a diva of the piano," and she has won numerous piano prizes and given numerous major debuts in New York.

Rackers is an associate professor of piano at the University of South Carolina. He serves on the artist faculty of the Perugia International Music Festival in Italy, Burgos International Music Festival in Spain, Texas State International Piano Festival and Southeastern Piano Festival in the United States.

The recital is open free to the public, and no ticket is required.
