WIU Students Voted into SGA Positions

MACOMB, IL – The leadership of the Western Illinois University Student Government Association (SGA) was chosen last week after a weeklong voting session on campus.
Wil Gradle, a senior economics major from St. Charles, IL, retained his position as the student member to the WIU Board of Trustees. He was elected with a combined two-campus vote total of 500 of the 671 votes cast.
Grant Reed, a sophomore political science major from Macomb, was elected SGA president, and Samir Almhiemid, a sophomore health service management major, was elected vice president. The president-vice president team received 367 of the 649 votes cast.
Five senators-at-large were chosen to represent the student body during the same election, including Summer Tracy, a junior special education major from Troy, IL; Vincente Reyna, a freshman law enforcement and justice administration (LEJA) major from Westchester, IL; Nancy Davila, a sophomore LEJA, foreign languages and political science major from Gages Lake, IL, and Margarita Sotelo, a sophomore political science major from Cicero, IL.
