WIU Celebration of Garwood Hall's 100th Birthday Set for May 3

MACOMB, IL – A celebration of Garwood Hall's 100th birthday will coincide with the Western Illinois University Department of Art's First Wednesday program from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 3.

This will be the last First Wednesday of the Spring 2017 semester. The events are open free to the public and are student and family friendly.

This month's projects include:

• "Poor Man" drypoints prints with professors Julie Mahoney, Jan Clough and Bill Howard, Garwood Hall, room 13

• Flowering silkscreens with Professor Susan Czechowski in Garwood Hall, room 11

• Artmaking for children – Mother's Day project with Associate Professor Ta-teh Ku, Garwood Hall, room 24

• Graphic design with Professor Bruce Walters, Garwood Hall, room 22

• Painting workshop with professors Tim Waldrop and Damon McArthur, Garwood Hall, room 30

• Exhibition – Photo II and advanced photography with Professor Jenny Knavel – a reception for this exhibit will be held in the student gallery on the third floor of Garwood Hall

• Wheel throwing with Professor Ian Shelly, Heating Plant Annex, room 111

• Textured copper bracelets with Professor Kat Myers, Heating Plant Annex, room 107

The University Art Gallery will be open late for BFA student exhibits by Kyla Culbertson and Katie Verkuilen. A reception for each exhibit will be held May 3 from 6-7:30 p.m.
