GBCC Director Interviews Set

MACOMB, IL – Interviews for the Western Illinois University Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center director position will be held Monday, July 17, Wednesday, July 19, Thursday, July 20 and Friday, July 21.

Candidates include Ken Morris, manager of student equity at Cedar Rapids (IA) Community School District, Monday, July 17; Michael Williams, coordinator of male initiatives at Norfolk (VA) State University, July 19; Anissa Jones, former national director of student development at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, July 20; and Anthony Jett, associate director of the Black Student Center at California State University San Marcos, July 21. An open session will be held with each candidate at 9 a.m. in the Multicultural Center Multipurpose Room.

Morris has served as the manager of student equity since November 2013. Previously, he was the director of intercultural life at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA (2006-2013) and coordinator of intercultural life at Monmouth College (2000-2005).

Morris received his master's degree from WIU and his bachelor's degree from Monmouth College.

Williams has served as the coordinator of male initiatives at Norfolk State since 2016. Previously, he was the co-adviser for Brothers4brothers Mentoring at Ferrum (VA) College (2014-2016) and a resident hall educator at Ferrum (2014-2015).

Williams received his master's degree from California University Pennsylvania and his bachelor's degree from Chowan University in North Carolina.

Jones served as national director of student development at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology from June 2013-December 2016. Previously, she was the director of career services at the Hospitality and Entrepreneurship Training Center (2012-2013) and as assistant dean of students at DePaul University (2006-2012). Jones has also served as the director of student services and activities at Joliet Junior College (2000-2006).

She received her Ed.D. from National-Louis University in Chicago, her master's degree from DePaul University and a bachelor's degree from Loyola University.

Jett has served as associate director of the Black Student Center at CSU San Marcos since September 2016. Previously, he was the project director of the Upward Bound Program and Talent Search at City College of Chicago, Malcolm X College (2013-2016); project director for the Educational Opportunity Center at Lake Michigan College (2010-2013); and project director for the Benton Harbor (MI) ConnectUp! Fund (2008-2010). Jett has also served as an adjunct professor at Lake Michigan College since December 2019, and was an accountant at the Benton Harbor Housing Commission (2008-2009).

He received his master's degree from Northcentral University in Arizona and his bachelor's degree from Southern New Hampshire University.
