MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Archives will offer another installment of "A Taste of Archives" at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26. The event is a unique opportunity to learn more about work at the University, while enjoying a five-course themed meal from the sixth floor of the Leslie F. Malpass Library.

Distance Learning, International Studies and Outreach Director Jeff Hancks, the former director of WIU's Archives, will speak about his historical research about the Icarian Society of Nauvoo, IL, and its penchant for beekeeping. WIU Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration Chair Dan Yoder will also speak about modern day beekeeping during the event. Yoder is a local bee enthusiast.

The meal will have a honey theme, with main course offerings including honey garlic pork belly, honey lemon dill trout or a spaghetti squash stuffed Portobello mushroom. Honey mead will be served with the main course, and a cash bar will also be available.

Because of the intimate setting for the event, limited seating is available. Tickets are $50 per person, and checks can be made payable to the WIU Foundation. Registration, which can be done until Friday, Aug. 18, can also be completed online at wiu.edu/alumni.

For more information about the events, contact University Libraries Director of Development Suzanna Woodward at S-Woodward@wiu.edu or (309) 298-2356.
