Rhoads Named Interim Director of Facilities Management at Western

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Assistant Physical Plant Director Troy Rhoads has been named interim director of Facilities Management at Western.

He replaces Scott Coker, who recently became public works director for the city of Macomb. A national search will begin soon to find a new director.

Rhoads began working at Western in August 1996 as a maintenance worker. He then moved up to stationary fireman's helper (1998-1999), utilities and maintenance repairman (1999-2008), lead stationary engineer (2008-2010), assistant chief building operating engineer (2010-2012) and superintendent of building maintenance (2012-2016), before accepting his assistant director position in October 2016.

Before coming to Western, Rhoads was a plant operator for the Urbana and Champaign Sanitary District and he served in the United States Navy as an F-14 aircraft mechanic.
