MACOMB, IL -- For those area students who are beginning the college search process, the annual Illinois Regional College Fair will be held at Western Thursday, Sept. 14. The fair, which will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. in the WIU Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center, will feature representatives from Western Illinois University and other public and private Midwestern universities, as well as representatives from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.

For more information, including college search tips and the complete list of participating schools, visit http://www.wiu.edu/student_services/undergraduate_admissions/prospective/ircf/.

Area students interested in attending Western have the opportunity to apply at no cost. The University, for the fourth consecutive year, is waiving the $30 application fee for area high school students who apply to WIU. The eligible counties include high schools in Adams, Brown, Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, Schuyler and Warren. To apply to WIU, visit wiu.edu/apply. Local students should select the fee waiver option on the payment screen and the $30 will not be applied based on the high school attended.

In addition to the application fee waiver, an automatic scholarship covering two-thirds of tuition costs is offered to high school seniors who choose to attend WIU classes prior to high school graduation. High school students who are enrolled at Western are not charged for student fees or on-campus housing. More information about the tuition discount is available at wiu.edu/highschool. Participating students will also benefit from Western's unique Cost Guarantee that locks in tuition, fee, room and meal plan rates for four years.

For a more in-depth Western experience, Fall 2017 Discover Western open house events will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, Monday, Oct. 9, Saturday, Oct. 21 and Monday, Nov. 13. To register, visit wiu.edu/DiscoverWestern. Individual tours may also be scheduled by calling the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at (309) 298-3157 or emailing admissions@wiu.edu.
