Jorgensen Awarded National Communication Service Award

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Department of Communication Chair Pete Jorgensen was recently awarded the 2017 National Communication Association (NCA) Training and Development Division's Outstanding Service Award.

The award reflects Jorgensen's work in the group's Training and Development division over the past five years. Jorgensen has served as the organization's division secretary/newsletter editor, Division Conference program planner, the Training and Development division chair, the division's representative to the NCA's Legislative Assembly for two years and the respondent to the Training and Development Division's Top Paper Panel for the last several years.

"I also served as both a member and chairperson of the division's Awards Committee, served on NCA's Nominating Committee and have been a conference paper reviewer for the division for over 15 years, as well as explored the prospects of publishing a new journal for the discipline on behalf of the division," said Jorgensen. "I have also been a presenter at a couple of pre-session conference workshops sponsored by the division over this period as well as being a featured presenter for NCA's recorded and posted 'JobTalks,' which are short workshops designed to assist new faculty in enhancing their successes when engaging in academic job searches."
