MACOMB, IL -- The Western Illinois University School of Music's Community Music School announces the Family Music Class spring session.

Guided 45-minute sessions will offer a way for young children to develop sensory awareness, language, motor, creative and social skills, along with gaining a wide repertoire of music. Classes will utilize folk songs, classical music, exploratory play and creative movement.

The Family Music Class will be taught by WIU alumna Rebeka Barker, a board- certified music therapist. Barker has worked as a teaching assistant, where she helped plan and implement small group activities to foster social and emotional development for preschool-age children.

Families with toddlers through pre-school age children are encouraged to enroll in the Family Music Class. The Spring Session will be held on Wednesdays, March 21-May 23 from 5:15-6 p.m. in Browne Hall, 219. Tuition for the class is $90.

Online registration can be completed at wiu.edu/cofac/communitymusicschool/fmc/index.php.
